TOWN & COUNTRY MEN'S LEAGUE
The Town & Country Men's League is a weekly 9-hole league, open to anyone interested in playing golf, with some competition, good camaraderie, and a lot of fun. This year will offer some different match formats in addition to low net and Stableford that will offer a variety of games that should appeal to everyone.
The year will start off with an 18-hole Saturday season opener, and then continue on Tuesdays with play starting at 5:00 PM. We will end the season with an 18-hole Saturday Finale in October. All matches will be “net” and all members will be required to have and maintain a USGA handicap.
1. PLAY BEGINS on Saturday, April 14th, 2012 with the season opening 18-hole 4-man scramble, then will
resume with regular 9-hole Tuesday weekday play. The season will conclude in September with the season
finale Tournament on Saturday, September 22nd, 2012. A meeting of all league members will precede the
April 14h match. All weekday matches will be a 5:00 PM, “shot gun” start. PLEASE BE READY TO GO
PRIOR TO THE START. We will do everything possible to get out at 5 PM. It will also be necessary to tee
off early in the beginning and end of our season due to restricted daylight. Usually 4:30 or 4:45 PM is needed
then. If you can NOT make it please notify the course at least two hours (3:00 PM) prior to play that you will
not participate that day. Town & Country Golf Links 856 769-8333
2. COMMITTEE and OFFICERS
The league Committee is Marty Caparros, President, Ron Volkmann, Vice President, John Quisito, Treasurer,
Steve Sirko, Rich Nocerino, Adam Sokoloff, and Scott Neuman. The Director of Golf shall also be a member
of the Rules Committee.
The members of the league committee must pay for the League and course fee, and any other costs required of
league members. The President will be reimbursed for legitimate expenses incurred, such as office supplies,
copying costs, etc.
3. LEAGUE FEES
The 2012 season league fees for Members of Town & Country Golf Links will be $40.00. For non-members
of Town & Country Golf Links the fee will be $60.00. The weekly dues will be $5.00. The League Fee will
also include GHIN Handicap Service. Guests of League Members are welcome to play anytime, but will not
be permitted to participate in weekly prize pool.
Weekly Greens Fee for Non-members of Town & Country Golf Links will be $23.00, which includes cart.
There is no additional Greens fee for Members of Town & Country Golf Links.
Season opener cost will be about $45 for non members. This includes 18 holes including cart and lunch.
Members can pay $12 for lunch and cart fees if applicable. We are anticipating the season finale will be
around $45 including cart. Membership fees also include membership to Cream Valley Social Club (CVSC).
4. LEAGUE PLAY
Matches shall be played from the BLUE TEES, also known as the Member tees, except for those over the age
of 60, who may play from the WHITE TEES. The Rules Committee reserves the right to change the tee box
per weekly match. Please note that there is a USGA mandated 1 stroke handicap differential between the blue
and white tees, which will be maintained.
All matches played in the month of APRIL will be played under WINTER RULES, which means the ball may
be UP, or improved lies, and may be moved, or bumped slightly with the club head, no closer to the hole, up
to the length of the score card, in order to improve your lie.
All matches played after April will be played under SUMMER RULES, which means the ball will be played
down and as it lies at all times. You cannot touch the ball except for rule 5.3. U.S.G.A. rules will govern at all
times except where a local or league rule takes precedence.
5. THE MATCH
Weekly matches will be per the posted schedule. All matches (except for scrambles) will use handicaps. All
playing members must have a USGA Handicap. Only players with official GHIN Handicaps will be eligible
for the prize pool. The primary match format will be “Low Net” where your course index is subtracted from
your gross score. Secondary format will be Chicago (aka T&C Stableford). Alternate games of play will be
intermixed in the schedule at the discretion of the Committee. In most cases, the Prize pool will recognize the
top 4 places, with a fixed amount each week, every week. (1st=$50, 2nd =$40, 3rd =$30, 4th =$20) Tie
breakers will be a match of cards. For head to head match play all winners get $10. Ties pay $5 each.
6. HANDICAPS
All playing members must have a USGA Handicap. Only players with official
GHIN Handicaps will be eligible for the prize pool.
League fees include registration with the course GHIN system. It is imperative that all league members enter
all qualified scores, including play outside of league play and at other courses. Scores can be entered at the
T&C computer, at the club you are playing if a member of GHIN or on the internet at www.ghin.com. You
must have 5 18-hole rounds completed to receive an index number. Any questions on your GHIN number or
how to enter scores, ask the Pro shop for assistance.
7. RAINOUTS/LIGHTNING
If lightning is present, you are to immediately take the standard precautions prescribed for this condition. The
rules committee will determine rainouts. If rain or bad weather comes during a round, you will be notified if
the round is being postponed or canceled.
8. QUITTING THE LEAGUE
The league has no obligation to refund any league fees paid by a member who quits the league.
9. DISPUTES/RULES COMMITTEE DECISIONS
All league disputes, violations, and penalties, are subject to review by the Rules Committee. The committee
may consult any outside party including the parties involved, any witnesses, or the course Director of Golf.
Decisions made by the Rules Committee are final.
LOCAL LEAGUE RULES (keep this in your bag):
1. If your ball is in your own fairway and rests in a divot or in ground which may be considered under repair,
even if it is not properly marked, you may take a drop without penalty, only after notifying and receiving
permission from your opponent(s) or consensus of your playing group. If permission is not granted then the
ball must be played as it lies. This is a judgment call by your opponent and cannot be appealed.
2. A ball in a footprint, erosion damage or unraked section of a sand trap may get relief by raking the area and
dropping, not placing the ball in the same area, or drop in a more suitable area of the sand trap. The ball must
remain in the trap and be placed in exactly the same lie as it was found.
3. You may tap down bad SPIKE MARKS on the green with permission from your opponent. This is a judgment
call by your opponent and cannot be appealed.
4. Maximum time allowed to look for a Lost Ball is 2 minutes. The TCML penalty for a Lost Ball is not as
severe as the USGA. Give it a quick look and move on. This 2 minute rule shall be enforced by your playing
partners.
5. Any shot that is “Out-of-Bounds” or “LOST” shall be played as a hazard. Drop your ball two (2) club lengths
from the out-of-bounds stake, or the nearest relief from the balls point of entry, take a 1-stroke penalty and
play on. DO NOT HIT A PROVISIONAL BALL OR GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL POSITION. This
includes the newly marked environmental stakes.
6. A ball next to any fence may be dropped 2 club lengths from the fence - no closer to the hole. No Penalty.
7. When a ball comes to rest on a tree root, rock, stones or any other impediment that may endanger the golfer or his equipment, relief may be taken to the nearest point, no closer to the hole, where a safe swing may be taken. No Penalty. If there are any RULES DISPUTES during a match, a provisional ball can be played and the rules committee will make a decision. The rules committee decision is final. Special Cases by Hole #
8. Hole #2 – Long grass in front of #2 Tee box. If you hit your ball into the heavy grass in front of #2 you may
play the ball as it lies OR drop your ball in front of the long grass, still in the rough, before the start of the
fairway and take a one (1) STROKE PENALTY!
9. Hole #3 - Out of bounds on left toward barn. You may drop 2 clubs from the OB stake OR drop your ball to
the left of the pond and behind the cart path and take a (1) one STROKE PENALTY!
10. On holes numbered 11, 14, 15, 16, & 17, if a ball is hit into the woods, the player may deem the woods as a
hazard and under penalty of one (1) stroke, seek the nearest point of relief, two (2) club lengths toward his
own fairway (but not in the fairway), no closer to the hole, from where his ball entered the woods.
Chicago (aka T&C Stableford) Scoring
Target points will be based on USGA Course Handicap. Points are as follows:
Dbl bogey or greater = 0, Bogey = 1, Par = 2, Birdie = 4, Eagle = 8.
All players must “hole out” and record their raw score, in addition to the
Chicago/Stableford score. No putts are to be given. The player with the most points above their target score
will be declared the weekly winner.
